Jewellery Size Guide

How we define size?

Ring sizing

Ring size is based on the inside circumference of the ring (measured in millimetres). You can determine your size three ways:

A. Measure an existing ring

  • Place the ring flat and measure the inside diameter (across the centre).
  • Use the chart below to match diameter/circumference to your Kothari ring size.

B. Measure your finger (string or tape method)

  • Use a fine thread or non-stretch string and wrap it once around the base of the finger you want to measure.
  • Mark where the string meets and measure that length against a ruler in millimetres, that is the finger circumference.
  • Match the circumference to the size chart below. Measure at room temperature, at the end of the day (when fingers are slightly larger), and avoid measuring when hands are cold. If you are between sizes, choose the larger size for comfort.

C. Professional sizing
For the most accurate result, and for high value or custom pieces, visit any Kothari showroom for a free professional measurement.

Notes :-

  • Wide bands (6 mm and above) usually require half to one full size up for comfort.
  • Fingers swell with heat, exercise, or pregnancy, size accordingly.

(If you need conversions to international sizes β€” US/UK/EU β€” please request; we can provide a conversion table or measure in-store.)

Bangle & Bracelet sizing

Bangles (rigid / closed rings)

  • Measure an existing bangle: Lay it flat and measure the inside diameter (mm). Match to our in-store bangle chart.
  • Measure your hand: With fingers together, measure the widest part of the hand (over the knuckles) using a soft tape or string. That measurement gives the minimum circumference a bangle must pass through. Use this to select the bangle diameter that will slide over comfortably but not be loose on the wrist.

Bracelets (flexible / chain styles)

  • Measure around your wrist bone with a soft tape. Add 12–20 mm (about Β½ to ΒΎ inch) for a comfortable fit (less for snug, more for a loose fit). Choose the clasp position you prefer (snug vs. drape).

Tip: For heirloom or heavy bangles, we strongly recommend trying the fit in-store before purchase.

Necklace & Chain Lengths

Common lengths and how they typically fit:

  • Collar/Choker (14–16 inches): Sits high on the neck.
  • Princess (18 inches): Rests at the collarbone (standard for solitaire pendants).
  • Matinee (20–24 inches): Sits on the upper chest, versatile for day or evening.
  • Opera (28–34 inches): Worn longer, over clothing or doubled as a layered look.
  • Rope / Long (36 inches and above): Llong styling or layered wraps.

Choose length based on your neckline, height, and the look you want. If uncertain, try two lengths in-store or request a trial.

What to have and how to measure?

Practical measuring checklist

  • Use a soft measuring tape or a non-stretch string + ruler (mm scale).
  • Measure at room temperature, preferably end of day.
  • If using an existing ring, measure inside diameter across the centre.
  • If between sizes, pick the larger size for comfort (or consult a specialist for wide rings).
  • For any high-value, custom or complicated design, book an in-store sizing β€” we’ll measure and advise on the best fit.
